After being attacked by a coyote in Dallas’ Lake Highlands neighbourhood, a 2-year-old child is in the hospital.
The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning on the front porch of a residence on Royalpine Drive, not far from White Rock Creek, according to Dallas police.
In critical condition, the child was rushed to the hospital.
Police said an officer later spotted the coyote at a nearby park and fired shots. The last time it was seen, it was withdrawing into the woods. It’s uncertain whether it was hit or not.
Game wardens are now actively searching for the animal. Anyone who sees it should phone 911 immediately.
Residents and visitors to the area should be on high alert. According to cops, the coyote is exceedingly hazardous.
