Today, Britney Spears and Sam Asghari will exchange vows.
According to several sources, the pop superstar, 40, and the actor and fitness trainer, 28, will marry on Thursday in Los Angeles in a small ceremony attended by roughly 60 close friends and family members.
Spears is expected to wear a Versace gown for their wedding day, according to insiders.
The couple announced their engagement over nine months ago, and their wedding is nearly nine months later. The news of their wedding date was first reported by TMZ.
Spears and Asghari first became romantically linked in 2016,
After they met on the set of the singer’s music video “Slumber Party.” After her video shoot, it took them approximately “five months” to reconnect, Spears claimed in a radio interview in 2017.
“I was like, ‘He was really cute, this guy was really cute,’ so I called him,” Spears recalled about digging up his phone number. “He’s just a really fun, funny person.”
“It was the humbleness that attracted me,” he said in a GQ interview in June. “She was very humble and she had a beautiful soul.”
Since then, the couple has shared romantic moments from their relationship on social media, including videos and images from their many adventures, including a trip to Las Vegas in March for Asghari’s birthday.
Spears teased the progress of her wedding plans on Instagram in May, posting a photo of her veil. In the same month, Asghari posted on Instagram that “the big day has been planned,” albeit they’re keeping it a secret until after they tie the knot.
He stood by Spears’ side throughout her 13-year conservatorship, which was finally lifted in November 2021.
“I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half, and will continue to support her following her dreams and creating the future she wants and deserves,” he told PEOPLE in February 2021. “I am thankful for all of the love and support she is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together.”
With ex-husband Kevin Federline, Spears has two boys, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15.
Asghari proposed to his girlfriend with a 4-carat round-cut diamond ring fashioned by Roman Malayev of Forever Diamonds NY. Around a plain silver band, the stone was set in a platinum cathedral setting.
Since then, Asghari has stated that he is not interested in anything “very large and super celebrity.”
“I want it to represent something. I want it to come from my heart and I want it to go to someone that wasn’t a big jeweler,” Asghari told GQ of the rock. “It was a big company but it was a company that was willing to do it the way that I wanted it. So I designed a really beautiful ring. It’s a princess cut, for a real-life princess.”
He kept the proposal a secret, without alerting anyone about his plans ahead of time.
“I didn’t want anybody to know and anybody to interfere in any way whatsoever so it was between me and her,” he said, adding that Spears was shocked when he got down on one knee.
