With ‘As It Was,’ Harry Styles establishes a new Guinness World Record.
Harry Styles’ smash track “As It Was” set a Guinness World Record.
According to a Guinness World Records news release, Styles, 28, broke the record for “most streamed track on Spotify in 24 hours (male).” In its first 24 hours on the platform, the song received over 16 million streams.
“As It Was,” which was released on April 1, also rated first in streams in 34 nations, including the United States.
Another British singer-songwriter holds the same female artist record: Adele, whose song “Easy on Me” received more than 19 million Spotify streams in one day, according to Guinness.
According to Spotify, Styles’ current hit also set two records.

“As It Was became Spotify’s most-streamed song in a single day in 2022 so far, and the most streamed song in the US in a single day in Spotify history,” the company said on Twitter.
“As It Was” is the lead song from Styles’ upcoming album, “Harry’s House,” which is due out on May 20. It’s the music star’s third solo album since leaving boy band One Direction.
The song’s charming, ’70s-inspired music video had over 62 million views as of Friday. Tanu Muino directed the video, which depicts Styles dressed in a bedazzled red outfit dancing with a woman dressed in blue. Arturo Obegero, a Spanish fashion designer, created the glitzy outfits.
The video was “made with love by a creative team from Ukraine,” according to Styles’ YouTube account.
