Best Friends Chihuahua and Pig - Timon and Pumbaa, were rescued together in Arizona.
When their previous owner was jailed, animal cruelty detectives from the Arizona Humane Society (AHS) rescued Timon and Pumbaa, a chihuahua and pig, respectively.
Timon and Pumbaa's relationship is unquestionably an exception to the rule that dogs and pigs should not live together.
"AHS personnel observed right away how strong of a friendship these two have," AHS said "Especially when Pumbaa is gracious enough to let Timon hitch a ride on his back from time to time."
When Pumbaa arrived at AHS, he required medical attention that the Arizona shelter could not offer, so AHS resorted to the professionals. Better Piggies Rescue was called by the shelter for assistance
The pair of pals have found a permanent home, according to a post on the Better Piggies Rescue's Facebook page on May 23. Pumbaa "made himself immediately at home in the front of the sanctuary"
"He's a natural greeting," Better Piggies Rescue wrote on Facebook. "I can't wait for everyone to meet him when we start tours in September."
"He also needs to be with his best friend, Timon, who we're training to be a sanctuary dog," the organisation noted.
In 2017, Better Piggies Rescue was founded near Cave Creek, Arizona. According to an AHS press release, it is one of Arizona's only pig sanctuaries.
